|Deborah Soto-Ortega works as a Senior Scientist and Manager in the Process Development Purification Sciences and Engineering organization at Amgen Manufacturing Limited [AML] in Puerto Rico. Deborah has been working at AML since April 2011, when she joined the group for support of commercial operations and process improvement projects for multiple products. Currently, Deborah is the manager for the Purification Sciences and Engineering team in support of AML6 and AML7 operations. In addition, Deborah is the Drug Substance Team Lead for the Aranesp program at Amgen.
Deborah received her bachelor’s degree in Industrial Biotechnology from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez in December 2005. Prior to completion of her undergraduate studies Deborah interned at AML in Puerto Rico, where she participated in startup activities for the manufacturing of recombinant proteins. Deborah received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in December 2010 at the University of South Carolina. Her research work focused on inhibition of the amyloid-beta fibril formation in Alzheimer’s Disease.
